Dr Bala Audu
President
Dr (Prof.) Bala Audu is a highly accomplished Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with extensive experience and a strong academic background. His career spans several prestigious institutions in Nigeria, where he has held various leadership positions.
Since 1998, he has been a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Maiduguri, Nigeria. From 1998 to 2003, he served as the Head of Department at the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe, Gombe, Nigeria. He then returned to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital as the Head of Department from 2004 to 2007, and later served as the Deputy Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (Clinicals) from 2007 to 2010.
Dr. Audu has been a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the College of Medical Sciences, University of Maiduguri, since 2009. He also held the position of Professor and Provost at the College of Medical Sciences, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, Nigeria, from 2017 till 2022.
In addition to his clinical and academic roles, Dr. Audu is actively involved in various professional societies and has held several key positions. He is a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and has served as a member of the Senate. He is also a member of the Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Nigeria, where he had served as the Honorary Treasurer. He has held leadership positions in the Nigerian Medical Association and is a member of the International Gynaecological Cancer Society, among others.
Dr Audu is a former Vice President University of Maiduguri Medical Students’ Association, former President and life member Association of Resident Doctors’ UMTH, former Chairman NMA Gombe State, former chairman NMA Borno State, former VP1 and Secretary General NMA.
Dr. Audu has received numerous honors and awards for his contributions to the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He is a Chevening Scholar and has received grants from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He has been involved in various research projects focusing on gynaecological oncology, infertility, and maternal mortality.
His administrative and leadership skills are evident from his extensive experience in various roles, including serving as Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences Azare.
He is married and blessed with children.
