    CMD calls for an easier recruitment process as a means of mitigating the effects of brain drain.   The President of the Nigerian Medical Association,

    Prof (Dr) Innocent A O Ujah FNMA, FNAmed, mni* on Wednesday, 1st of December, 2021 paid a courtesy call on the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of he Usman Dan Fodio Teaching Hospital (UDUTH),Sokoto State, *Prof Sabir Anas

    During the courtesy call,which was attended by members of the National Officers Committee(NOC), NEC members,the Chairman of the Sokoto State branch,*Dr Mohammed Umar* and members of the LOC, the NMA President thanked the CMD for the warm reception and also commended him for the giant strides being recorded by the institution especially in the areas of nuclear medicine and heart surgeries.  He also brought the issue of brain drain to the front burner and the need for all us to work collectively to stem the tide.

    The President also informed the CMD of the progress being made in building the NMA House in Abuja and solicited his support.  In his response,  the CMD appreciated the NMA President and members of his entourage for the visit.   As a past Chairman of NMA, Sokoto State branch, he expressed great delight in the willingness of Prof Ujah to play an active role in the association despite his numerous engagements and said it was a source of encouragement.  He also harped on the need to encourage discipline and decorum amongst members of the association.  Furthermore, he used the opportunity to commend the NMA President for finally commencing the NMA House project in Abuja despite the previous challenges.   He highlighted his modest achievements in the institution under his leadership especially in the areas of nuclear medicine and open heart surgeries.   He also talked the negative effects of brain drain on the  delivery of health care services in the facility and appealed to the NMA President to advocate for an  easier recruitment process for replacement of staff who have migrated.  The visit ended with a tour around the health facilities in the institution and exchange of souvenirs.
