NMA Proposes Amendments to Bills at NASS Public Hearing
On Thursday, 23rd July 2020, NMA President was ably represented by The Secretary General of NMA, Dr Ekpe Philips Uche at public hearings conducted by the House of Representatives (HOR) where amendments to 2(Two) on bills were proposed by NMA.
The proposed amendments were as follows :
- An Amendment to the National Primary Health Care Development Agency Act .
NMA proposed the following,
(i) Inclusion of Essential Drugs.
(ii) The appointment of a medically qualified person as the Executive Director and experienced in Primary Health Care and Resource mobilization .
3, National Blood Transfusion Commission Act
NMA made the following recommendations,
(i) That the Commission should be established
(ii) That a Representative of NMA should be included in the Board
(iii) That the Commission should be headed by an Executive Secretary.
Over 16 other amendments were presented by NMA at the public hearing.
