NMA NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (NEC) MEETING BEGINS IN ABUJA ON AUGUST 27,2020.
All is now set for the commencement of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), scheduled to hold in the nation’s capital, Abuja from the 27th to 29th of August 2020.
The meeting which has as its theme, ‘ Review of the National Response to COVID-19 pandemic,’ will be the first since the present National Officers Committee (NOC) ably led by the President of NMA, Prof Innocent AO Ujah FNMA, mni was sworn into office on the 30th of May, 2020.
During the NEC meeting, there will be guest lectures, plenary sessions and meetings of the NOC. A Communique is also expected to be issued at the end of the meeting.
The NEC is the governing body of NMA,which is empowered to make policy decisions on behalf of the association , reputed to be the largest medical association in the West African sub-region comprising over 40,000 members.
Furthermore, in line with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines on mass gatherings, only statutory members are expected to be physically present at the meeting, while the observers will join the sessions virtually.
