NMA PRESIDENT PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO CMD, FEDERAL TEACHING HOSPITAL,IDO-EKITI, EKITI STATE.
The President of the Nigerian Medical Association, Prof(Dr) IAO Ujah, FNMA, FNAmed, mni has paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Prof Adekunle Ajayi.
The CMD thanked the NMA President for the visit. He used the opportunity to intimate the President of the challenges militating against qualitative health care delivery in the institution particularly the delay in the payment of salaries to House Officers and the high number of resignations from Medical Doctors in the facility.
In his response, the President thanked the CMD, Prof Adekunle Ajayi for granting the courtesy visit despite the short notice and expressed his delight on the visit.
Firstly, he commended the Chairman and members of NMA, Ekiti State branch for the warm reception accorded him yesterday.
He also commended him for the achievements recorded in the tertiary hospital under his tenure of office despite the challenges confronting the institution.
He appreciated him for his support to Resident Doctors and other health workers in the hospital.
In addition, the President harped on the importance of the provision of quality care to clients and patients.
Also, the President further re-emphasized the importance of CMDs being involved in the activities of NMA in order to support the growth of the association.
He encouraged the CMD to always adopt advocacy and constructive engagements as veritable strategies towards overcoming the challenges identified.
Furthermore, the CMD solicited the support of NMA in ensuring that the challenges identified are addressed especially the payment of salaries to the House Officers in the facility.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the visit and these included the building of the NMA House and Doctors’ Stamp.
Accompanying the President for the visit were members of the National Officers Committee (NOC), NEC members and the Chairman of the South-West Caucus and Ogun State branch as well as the Chairman of the Ondo State branch.
The official visit continues today with courtesy visits to the Executive Governor of Ekiti State.
