The President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Prof (Dr) IAO Ujah FNMA, FNAmed, mni yesterday paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Prof Seddi Sebastian Maimako.
At the courtesy call, The President appreciated the Vice Chancellor for the warm reception accorded him and his delegation, and especially for granting the request despite the short notice.
The President stated that as a staff of the University for the past 31years, he had come to pay homage to the Vice Chancellor and also formally invite him to the NMA AGC/DM.
He also used the opportunity of the courtesy call to commend the Vice Chancellor for the giant strides recorded by the institution under his watch, especially the movement to the permanent site after so many years, establishment of the College of Health Sciences and his uncommon leadership.
In his response, the CMD thanked the President and members of his entourage for the historic visit and said he was highly honoured for the privilege to host the President who had been a staff of the University prior to his election.
The Vice Chancellor also congratulated the President on his election as the President of NMA and well deserved appointment as the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State.
He also commended the President for his achievements since his assumption of office and thanked him and indeed NMA for giving the hosting right of the 61st Annual General Conference/ Delegates Meeting to Jos, Plateau State.
Furthermore, he said he was particularly impressed with Prof Ujah’s mentorship of hundredths of academics and his substantial contribution to the human capacity development in the country.
He promised his support to a successful hosting of the conference and promised to grace the occasion of the opening ceremony.
Accompanying the President for the courtesy call were members of the National Officers Committee (NOC) and The Chairman and members of the Plateau State branch.
