The President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Prof (Dr) Innocent A O Ujah, FNMA, FNAmed, mni yesterday led a high powered delegation of the association to pay a courtesy call on a former Military President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida GCFR, mni at his Minna, Niger State residence.
The President, who expressed his delight at the warm reception accorded him and his delegation, used the opportunity of the courtesy call to felicitate with our past President who just clocked 80 years and to convey the birthday wishes of members of NMA to him.
The NMA President also used the opportunity to intimate Past President Babangida of recent happenings in the Nigerian health sector and appealed to him to use his wide contacts and leadership prowess to intervene in order to find a solution to the current crisis.
If you may recall, it was during IBB’s tenure as President that the NMA land in Maitama, Abuja was allocated and funds donated to start the project.
Also, it was under his regime that the Medical Salary Structure(MSS) was introduced which greatly improved the welfare of our members.
In his response, the Past President thanked the President of NMA and his delegation for the visit and wished the association well.
Those in the NMA President ‘s delegation included members of the NOC, Past Presidents, the Chairman and members of the Niger State branch of the association.
