NMA Represented at The Stakeholder Briefing of The SIIP-North-East in Abuja
Dr Jide Onyekwelu, Secretary General, NMA, represented the President, Dr Uche Rowland Ojinmah, in Stakeholder Consultation/Briefing by The Special Independent Investigative Panel on Human Rights Violations in Counter-Insurgency Operations in North-East Nigeria (SIIP-North-East) that held at National Human Rights Commission, Bukhari Bello Hall of the National Human Rights Commission, No 19 Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama, Abuja, today Wednesday 22nd March 2023.
Recall that SIIP-North-East was established to investigate allegations of gross violations of international and national human rights laws by the Nigerian Armed Forces in the North-East counter-insurgency operations made by Reuters, an international News Agency, in December 2022.
This meeting is to give information to stakeholders and present progress report of the SIIP North-East activities.
The interaction attracted members of the international community including the US embassy, representatives of the UN Children Emergency Fund, FIDA, Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Medical Association, Civil Society Organizations, among others.
